Show notes – Ep 4 – See a Solution?
My friend Shanna Maria Brawner and I chat today about how to become a more intentional member of community. She tells the story of how one mentor confronted her out of concern and did it in such a way that Shanna felt utterly loved, not at all attacked. She confesses about having to deal with a self righteous attitude in her earlier life and how that has been transformed into a tempered, purposeful sense of justice, which is now being used for good. She’s learned how to search her motives and set her hopes high for peace by taking an eternal “Bigger Story” perspective.
We share openly about struggles we’ve had with female friendships and our respective journeys through recovery from codependency. Shanna mentions a Bible Study that not only led her to clean out her closet, but her relationships. (Read WHY it’s important to create margin in all areas of your life on the blog at heylovepodcast.com.)
Shanna also describes what it’s like to be a single mom in church, how that’s different from being just “single….” and what she did when she saw a problem with the way acquaintences handled her new singleness and how she became part of the solution…. Shanna likes her chai with steamed milk although I’d already added it cold to her mug before I stopped to ask. (oops!)
If you’ve done the Breathe study, or if something from today’s episode resonates with you, write about it on the facebook page (heylovepodcast) and let us know. AND if ya like what ya hear, can I trouble you to give us a one sentence review & a 5 star rating on itunes? Thanks! Bye Love!
