I’m so glad you are here to hear this conversation with my longtime friend, Jessica Morlan. She, being the master of discipleship that she is, will tell us what helps assuage the feeling of overwhelm that a new Bible reader might experience. And I’ll share why I thought I could never be a Christian….
Out of one particularly close friendship, a long legacy of biblical literacy was born. This dynamic duo is made up of Jess and Barb Taylor- whose interview I’ve been trying to book forever :-0)
We talk about the importance of having other voices speak truth into our kids and I am reminded that growing up in a Christian home doesn’t automatically make one a Christian.
Jessica Morlan is a worship leader for Seeds – she and her husband Philip travel and sing all over the country and one of their aims is to have whole families worship together. I will link to one of my favorite scripture memory songs from Seeds; their stuff is every bit for adults as much as it is for kids. You should buy all their stuff!! https://seedsfamilyworship.bandcamp.com/track/no-greater-love-remain-in-me-john-15-13-14
The book Jess refers to is called The Nightingale- http://amzn.to/2CL40gO
The one I brought up is “Unbroken”. http://amzn.to/2AgBnoN
I would recommend that over the movie bc the movie took license with the hero’s salvation story; as in- they pretty much left it out altogether.
The movie we touched on is; “Life is Beautiful” simply my favorite of all time…. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CTjcVr9Iao
Jess has lived with her parents (her mom Dian is featured on Ep 6 https://karthimasters.com/podcast/episode-6-laugh-days-ahead-dian-belbeck/) in what we call the Belbeck/Morlan compound. for the last 11 years. Their custom made “long table” is one of our favorite places to be in the world.
Jessica and her family did actually move shortly after this conversation (which took place in our church offices) and when you hear the outtakes, you’ll see that it’s hard to be sad for long about their move bc people kept walking into the room where we were conducting the interview by accident.
I confess that as much as I rave about my hubby, he’s not perfect but he’s repentant- which is better. And he forgives me which is even better still…..
Well, thank you for joining me —I want to challenge you to think about what kind of legacy you’re leaving…. one of eternal impact?
After today’s review, Blair is fresh out. Please go to iTunes quick so he’ll have something to read!! Find instructions here-https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=M_xz5XbWQTg
And in case you need help figuring out what “PIE” means (like I did ;-0) it stands for “people I enjoy.”
Till next time,
