You’re going to meet a friend of mine who turned a case of loneliness into a relational style that has brought tremendous success in business. Libby Diaz is with me today- her gym is known as the “Cheers” of fitness clubs; the place where everybody knows your name. (Listen to the outtakes for a taste of that theme song from the 80’s :-0)
After hearing Libby talk about the importance of relationship- even/especially where you work out, I felt inspired…. so in the last 5 days, I’ve taken 3 guests with me to my gym.
Blair and I had the pleasure of leading Libby (and her artist husband Jonny) in a marriage group a couple of years ago. I always knew I liked Libby – how could I not? Her favorite room is the same as mine; the closet! She’s also a fellow introvert and today, we discuss how reaching out to others doesn’t mean you have to annihilate the introvert in you…
I was apologetic about bringing up the mini eulogy question bc I was afraid it was a sharp turn after hearing about her mom… but after listening back, I’m thinking, “Not really.” Libby has a deep desire to be known as one who led others to the feet of Jesus because of their friendship. When you hear what her mom’s like, you’ll see her answer flows naturally from there.
Have you thought about what kind of relationship you have with your self? I get tickled hearing how this question throws her off. :-0)
