Welcome to part 1 of a 2 parter with Bart Millard. Have you heard his story yet? It’s pretty amazing. Today, Bart will share his feelings about the new feature film called “I Can Only Imagine” which lays out the story behind the song of the same name.
It’s set to release this very weekend and you are gonna LOVE it!! Bart will talk about his fears and hopes as it goes out into the world….. You’ll hear me joke in the outtakes about taking the liberty of signing him up for the “Cheese of the Month” club- it’s because after seeing a premiere showing, I can say there is NO CHEESE in his movie- What. So. Ever. (Only everything you’d ever want in a good movie; drama, humor, romance and a story you know is true because no one could ever make this stuff up!). We’ve all seen the power and influence of film and I’m here to say, this one has “redemption” written all over it!
In this episode, I’ll tell you how I first met Bart back in the days of big hair and how I learned that persistence pays off when you have busy friends. And I’ll share part of an ongoing text thread between me and Bart that sounds a little bit like a chapter out of the book, “Letters From a Nut.”
Through the whole interview, you’ll hear the lovely sound of a powersaw just outside my window. (Sorry ’bout that….) During some particularly poignant moments, you’ll notice our conversation seems a little fragmented – that’s because we had every kind of interruption imaginable. SO professional, I know….
As always, Love, if you draw any comfort from these soundwaves, if you find any encouragement in these episodes, please consider partnering with us? Go to my website heylovepodcast.com to find out how. Email me if ya have any questions; firstname.lastname@example.org-Thanks, Love!
Soon, my daughter and I will be collecting your gently used dresses to take with us to India. The little girls in Davey’s old orphanage will be so grateful- so be thinking about that as you start spring cleaning…(check out Davey’s first photo on the website- she’s wearing the one dress they passed all through the orphanage; every little girl-whether she’s 1 or 6- would wear that same dress every time there was a new family claiming one of them as a referral.) We need to raise $5,500 for this trip by May 31st. Help us help them!
Bart Millard’s movie is called “I Can Only Imagine” and it will be in theaters everywhere on March 16th. Go this Friday with your family, then go again on Saturday with your friends…. Go as many times as you can! Every time you support a work of art (like the film we’ve been talking about or this podcast) it sends a message to industry leaders- that we, the audience- we’re here to stay. And we have an insatiable hunger for more good content.
