Do you have a friend who happens to be a different color than you? I will confess to you on today’s episode that I used to be extremely prejudice; why I hated white people and after making a friend who happened to be white, how my hatred started to melt away….
This week’s conversation feels a little bit like a continuation of the one from last week where the focus was on building loving friendships. The two women I talk with today are from completely different backgrounds but found they have much in common and their friendship has served as a proverbial bridge for racial reconciliation in our community.
Tangie Lane and Allison Fontenot became fast friends over a decade ago when their daughters signed up to perform in a talent show together as preschoolers. Even before they met, Allison had been praying for Tangie’s daughter who suffered greatly with blood cancer as a toddler (but is doing great now well into her teen years.)
We discuss how beautiful the body of Christ is when we come together as one to pray for and minister to a family with a sick child. We touch on dealing with depression AND we laugh our heads off too. Both of these women are radiant with joy and LOVE to laugh. Speaking of laughing your head off, be sure to STAY TUNED through the very end (past the outtro music) so you can hear the outtakes- Hill. Air. Eee. Ous!!!!!!!!
Do you have a Christ centered school where you are? Or do you homeschool your children? Maybe your kiddos are enrolled in a public school as both of mine were all through high school- where ever your kids are learning, I hope after this hour, you will feel challenged to reach out to some of the moms there. You may have more in common with them than you think..
Once again, the thread woven throughout this whole conversation is “Friendship.”
Here are those books I mentioned by Randy Alcorn; All are EXCELLENT!!!

Also, Love- I’m thrilled to announce that my daughter Davey Joy and I will be heading to India on a very special missions trip this summer with our sweet friend, Jodie Sweet. :-0) Jodie is wife of Rob Sweet, Pastor of Fellowship Bible Church. (fbctn.org)
It means so much to me that a woman at my church- an All American, white woman at that- has a fondness for my homeland. (God really has a way of turning things around, doesn’t He???) For more information on that trip, visit the website and Partner with us! Heylovepodcast.com
If you have any questions about our India trip or the podcast in general, please email me at email@example.com
Thank you for listening. Come back next week when we delve into race relations a little bit deeper with Allison and Tangie.
Till next time,
(Don’t forget- LISTEN to the OUTTAKES- where Tangie shares the story of her precocious younger self ripping a wig off the head of an adult woman who insisted it was her real hair. She was a little firecracker!!!! :-0)
