I’m coming to you on a dreary night. My husband and I were supposed to attend a parenting seminar put on by Chip Dodd and Stephen James up in their new studio in Nashville. I had been planning on taking good notes and relaying all their wisdom to you today, but to no avail. (Don’t fire me!)
We had to cancel because of flooding in our little area. They’ve already cancelled schools around here!! Crazy. What’s the weather like in your neck of the woods?
Chip Dodd and Stephen James recorded a series on parenting called “Giraffes on Ice” – Listen to episodes 77-82 over on Sage Hill’s podcast.
AND if you’d like to catch their interviews here on Heylove, Chip was episode #28 And Stephen was Ep 16; go back and grab those. You’ll love these guys.
I’m also going to play you an excerpt from a talk my husband and I gave this past Mon night. And I’ll share with you the KEY to good, open handed parenting. And raising wholehearted kids.
3 takeaways from Blair and Karthi’s talk at ReEngage;
-3 R’s Rupture/Redo/Repair
-Fight more in front of your kids,
-ABIDING in the Vine. This is the key to open handed parenting; Allowing the Holy Spirit to produce Fruit in us- that’s how we become good parents. Reminds me of my favorite saying from recovery; I can’t He can, I’ll let Him.
I hope you enjoyed today’s episode on open handed parenting. Know this; no matter your parenting struggle, you are not the only one. We’re all giraffes on ice. Remember to pick up Chip and Steven’s book on this very thing;
Parenting with Heart; How imperfect parents can raise resilient, loving and wise hearted kids.
Just another way for you to live out love, Till next time,
