Hey Love, welcome and thanks for coming back for part 2 of Blair’s interview. I’m excited for you to hear more about what makes my hubby tick because I think some of this will resonate with you… if you’ve ever had loss or trials or felt justified in your behavior or struggled with self righteousness… you’re in the right place.
While there’s no formula for a happy marriage, there is a key to a healthy one. We talk about how far away from being the “right one” we were from each other. But abiding, remaining, walking with Jesus, has sort of “morphed” each of us into being right for the other person.
Blair is as funny as he’s ever been for the 25 years I’ve known him. I think it’s striking that he whines about needing new shoes just because a shoelace is missing. But- truth be told, he’s had that same particular pair of shoes for about 6 years.
He’s also as honest as he’s always been for the 25 years I’ve known him. He touches on how his good behavior did not equate to “living out the Gospel” and shares why it used to be hard for him to ask forgiveness, let alone admit when he was wrong…. (put that together with a girl who’s mad at the world, and you’ve got the makings of a fun, happy, easy marriage, right?) In the outtakes, we laugh about the folly of our youth.
We discuss the importance of listening and asking good questions when witnessing to someone about Christ (because, while the guy who planted seeds in Blair’s heart for the Gospel was still effective in his message, he wasn’t a good listener….)
And we share how your faith can grow through a crisis of belief moment. (or a time when you hit the proverbial wall….) when you have to choose whether to believe and trust that God is sovereign, or not.
Blair’s experience (which was also mine) was the moment at which he realized his depravity and started extended grace to himself and others. Neither of us put anything past anyone anymore… because we know the kind of rebellion we’re each capable of…
I expound on why it’s easier for me to trust God with the bigger things than the everyday mundane stuff. Part of this interview was recorded just before Christmas so picture 75 degree weather- that’s Nashville for ya! Today, I’ll announce a contest- where you can win tix to a Weekend to Remember.
