It’s not politically correct to play favorites but I must say that after all these interviews, this is my favorite one thus far!!! Blair and I are coming up on our silver anniversary, so it seems fitting that for our special Valentine’s edition, I share how we were absolutely not right for each other in the beginning. 🙂
But by God’s Grace, we have morphed into the “right” ones for each other- we’ve hit a sweet spot! I offer encouragement for you if you’re struggling through some “hard” in your marriage, or if you’re single, wondering if there are any good Godly men left….
I explain why marriage has been the most healing thing I’ve ever done and what makes it a picture of the Gospel. These days, Blair and I find ourselves making disciples through a marriage mentoring group called “ReEngage.” I can’t say enough things about this program. We have learned so much about God’s purpose and meaning in marriage.
I also describe how techy I’m becoming- thanks to Blair’s patient guidance on using a sophisticated program like protools for this podcast. I guess this kindasorta makes me an engineer, doesn’t it? Yes, I think it does!
I read only part of Blair’s discography out loud in the actual interview. The “rest” of his list of credits is ridiculously diverse and still inconclusive so we placed that in the outtakes, where I mispronounce Bart Millard’s name and confuse Veggie Tales with a 90’s movie about gangster rappers.
We will be talking about Blair’s fondest childhood memories (you may find yourself craving Vietnamese food for lunch) the importance of delegating duties and what he hopes friends might say at his funeral. We laugh over the results of his personality quiz (at which part he offers me constructive criticism) and his lack of soulcare…. Do men even do soulcare?
I mention how proud I am of Blair finally coming around when our homegrown son, Elijah, first started talking about his desire to buy a motorcycle. I did encourage my husband to engage our son about his dreams but next thing I know, the two of them were out buying motorcycles and riding them together! This is not what I was going for! We joke about getting older and why I don’t like taking long rides with him on his motorcyle anymore.
We discuss his love for cooking all my favorite Indian foods and brewing authentic Indian chai -bc my sweet white Oregonian lumberjack man is more Indian than I and has the patience to sit at my mom’s feet and take notes on these things.
I will share the story of Valentine’s Day- yet another picture of the Gospel in that it’s all about a Saint laying down his life for another and how my forever Valentine, Blair, truly shows me what this means every day. Also, I’ll tell you about some highlights of the worshiptogetherconference from this past weekend in Nashville- which was spectacular!
