With one foot rooted in an ancient culture, I’ve spent my life studying how women do relationships differently in other parts of the world- I believe we have much to learn from them in the way of “interdependence.” Could this be a key to unlocking the abundant life that Jesus promised us?
Since 2016, I’ve been hosting a show centered on communicating effectively to build life giving, interdependent relationships- like I saw my Aunties enjoying in India- and I sort of fell into coaching, which has been a feast for my soul.
My parents moved us to New York City when I was 5 years old from the Motherland -that was back in 1968! Fast forward to 2020- I’m a wife, mom of 2, in recovery from codependency, some inexplicable autoimmune issues & hanging on to a few vices-including, but not limited to, ginger masala chai and watching the wind.
I feel you need to know that I’m absolutely WILD about storms-the darker and windier, the better! And I am, without a doubt, the LEAST techy person you know….It’s the irony of ironies that I’m launching my 8th season of podcasting.
I’m excited to be training with Professional Christian Coaching Institute, on track for certification later this year. (And yes, I do my assignments early, as any good Indian girl would do! :-0) Until I’m certified, I’m happy to offer “fair trade” coaching packages with a sliding scale to women in my community (Desi or otherwise) because nothing thrills me more than having a front row seat as God transforms a woman’s heart before my very eyes.
What’s in a Name?
“Hey LOVE” is how I’ve been addressing some of the people closest to me since they were crawling. During a recent brainstorming meeting, a fellow creative and I were throwing around names for this podcast. One by one, my son walked in, then my daughter, then my husband… Each time, I would yell the same greeting, “Hey, Love!” And so it stuck.
Fast forward to Fall 2019- Since I first started (unofficially) coaching students in 1985, I’ve been told I was a born listener…. Since I’m now pursuing my big official life coaching certification, it only made sense to change the name of the podcast from “Hey Love,” to “The Listening Well.” (Had a little help from my friends with the new name. Don’tcha love it?)
My hope is that this show will be sort of a soul hammock for you as you go about your day. We hear true stories and talk with real people about Kingdom building through a biblical, Gospel centered lens.
In each episode, we’ll discuss fresh ways for you to nurture your own heart, engage more deeply in your faith and cultivate community by inviting others into the fold of Christ as you live out love where you work, play and worship.
